what
can I say?
I
attended the first annual kaua'i music festival on the hawaiian island June
1 - 4, 2003. It was amazing, extraordinarily inspiring and I learned more
in 4 days than in many years of songwriting (although experience does play
it's part). Below are photos taken at the festival and around the island.
Feel free to visit the official site and look for an article in Songlink magazine
describing all of the fun in the sun.
I
made some new friends and heard great songwriters from all over...and the
hawaiians' hearts were as big as their pool of enthusiasm for music and brotherhood.
Special thanks to www.Songlink.com for

There
were some big names there but far away from the big pressures, they were just
regular folks who happened to be in Hawaii sharing their craft and talents with
those who aspire to walk in their shoes. Just to give you a sampling: Lamont
Dozier (Stop in the Name of Love - to name only one of over 75 top tens), Lisa
Loeb (Stay, I Do), Dweezil Zappa, Jesse Harris (Don't Know Why), Kara Dio Guardi
(Escape, Spinning Around), Jeff Cohen (Crazy for this Girl), Russ Titelman (producer
for George Harrison, James Taylor, Bee Gees), David Tickle (producer for Blondie,
Prince), Michael Ruff (Cry on my Shoulder), Frank Myers (I Swear, You and I),
Hugh Prestwood (The Song Remembers When, The Suit), Peter Zizzo (producer/co-writer
for Vanessa Carlton, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion), and from the business side
folks like Adam Katz, Stephen Finfer, and Nick Ferrara. Hawaiian greats like
John Cruz and Owana Salazar also shared their gifts with the what became new
fans! I highly recommend attending if you aspire to write for business or just
wanna be better for yourself - a truly unique experience.
